Is my quote data safe here?

Yes — and here is the whole answer on one page: what happens to a quote you audit, what we store and never store, how the security works, and where the formal documents live.

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR QUOTE

Uploads are processed entirely in memory. File contents are read, parsed, and discarded within the same server request. No uploaded file is written to disk, stored in a database, or retained in any form.

  1. Upload or paste
  2. Server memory
  3. Line extraction
  4. Catalog matching
  5. Variance calculation
  6. Results displayed
  7. Memory cleared

Anonymous audits are never stored. Without an account, your quote is checked in memory, shown back to you, and discarded. Nothing is kept unless you explicitly save it.

WHAT WE STORE (AND DON'T)

Stored, only when you save an audit: line item descriptions, quantities, unit prices, matched catalog items, and variance results — in your private library, encrypted at rest, accessible only to you. Vendor names from your quote stay in that private library, never shared or made public.

Never stored: raw uploaded files, unmatched quote text, IP addresses tied to audit content, or any data from anonymous (non-saved) audits.

IF YOU CONTRIBUTE

Contribution is opt-in, and off by default. If you opt in, matched line items are anonymized before review — vendor names hashed with HMAC-SHA256, quantities rounded — and no individual contributed observation is ever displayed or attributable to you. You can withdraw at any time from your account settings.

The full policy on how pricing data is collected and used is at Data practices; the contribution program’s terms are at Contribution terms.

SECURITY

ClearQuoter runs on Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and authentication), and Stripe (billing). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Vendor names in the benchmark database are hashed using HMAC-SHA256; individual vendor identities are never exposed, and benchmark ranges are aggregated from multiple independent sources.

YOUR RIGHTS

You can export your saved audits or withdraw from data contribution at any time from your account settings. You can also delete your account yourself, from the Delete account section of your account page: deletion is immediate and permanent, removes your profile, saved audits and outcomes, search history, audit usage records, contribution records and consent, benchmark requests, and your email from our mailing list, and cancels any active subscription right away. Pricing observations already accepted into the benchmark remain — they are anonymized and carry no link back to your account — and Stripe retains billing records as required by tax and accounting law. For other data requests, contact hello@clearquoter.co.
